Writing Philosophy
As a writer, I focus on my audience: what they need to know, how I want them to feel, what we can build together. Teaching writing has helped me see it as an art shaped by audience above all. Directing theatre, I have learned to look at an artistic product through the eyes of its audience. Although I am driven by my own goals for each writing project, my experience allows me to see what the reader wants as well. Through careful attention to audience, I discover how I can use the piece to inspire my reader to act while making them feel cared for and considered.
